Italy: Oscar for innovation at Macfrut
At Macfrut, the main exhibition of the fruit and vegetable supply chain in the Mediterranean, the prestigious award will be given to the most remarkable innovations in the sector
Also this year innovation is going to be the recurring theme at Macfrut, the international trade fair of the fresh produce industry which will take place from 5 to 7 October 2011 at the “Cesena Fiera” exhibition centre. After the success of the 2010 edition, this is the second consecutive year for the Macfrut Oscar.
The competition, aimed at new technologies developed for the fruit and vegetable sector and already launched on the market, is the best display to show the leading-edge products and state-of-the-art services offered by companies, operators and large-scale retailers. Besides competing for the main prize, participants may also win a prize in one of the four competition categories, namely ‘grading and packing machines and technologies’, ‘packaging and packaging materials, ‘seeds and fresh products’, ‘logistics and services’.
The aim of the Oscar is to promote research in the sector, thereby giving visibility to innovations with outstanding characteristics. The winners of the four technical categories will be chosen by a jury of experts and sector operators, while the Oscar will be awarded on the basis of the preferences expressed by visitors and exhibitors at Macfrut 2011.
