Philippines: TADECO reports increased production for 2009
For the year 2009, Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO) is proud to have produced and exported 32.5 million boxes of Cavendish bananas, noting a 1.56 % increase from the production of 32 million boxes in 2008. This output nailed TADECO on the second spot among the top producers and exporters in the Philippine banana industry.
This event called for the 6th BANANERO CHALLENGE – an annual celebration in the company for reaching its target production during the previous year. Here, TADECO also strengthens the challenge in setting the target production for the following year.
The 6th Bananero Challenge was a moment of victory for all people who make up TADECO and who were also responsible for the increase in the production despite many challenges. In the past year, the company plantation experienced blow downs which caused damages to bananas due to heavy rains and strong winds. It was also when the issue on aerial spray ban was at its peak, although recent updates show an increasing call for more scientific investigations to be able to address the issue.
For the year 2010, TADECO is up to beat the 2009 production of 32.5 million boxes as the entire company is enthusiastic to fulfill the next Bananero Challenge and looks forward to a fruitful year. TADECO, in its commitment to produce the best Cavendish bananas for its market while keeping up in its ranking among the worlds top banana companies, continuous to adopt innovative yet the safest techniques there are in its production process.
At the same time, the company sees to it that it gives back services to the community where it operates, by way of observing its corporate social responsibilities. With this, TADECO lives up to its quality objective that “Total quality is our way of life”.
