UK: Going bananas for bananas at school

Children are going bananas to promote fair trade.

Staff from Sainsbury’s in Durham visited Finchale Primary School in Newton Hall to hand out bananas as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Deputy store manager Vicki Mains said: “Bananas are the most popular fruit in the world and Sainsbury’s was one of the first supermarkets to convert all of its bananas to 100 per cent Fairtrade in 2007. What better way to encourage healthy eating as well as learning the children the importance of fair trade?”

Comments:

Who is "learning" the children about bananas? Not their English teacher I hope. When we aere at school we were taught things.

Who is paying for the free bananas? Not the Fair Trade producers??
