Italy: McDonald’s introduces 'kiwi on a stick'

For the first time there will be Italian fruit available at a fast food restaurant. McDonalds will introduce the 'kiwi on a stick' (whole fruit on a stick) they will be available in 'Le Frescallegre' range from the 9th of March until the 24th of May 2010.

The multi-national is directing the novelty at women, because it is rich in vitamin C, has good nutritional value and can be eaten on the go. It is also an alternative to the apple in the 'Happy Meal'. The kiwi is individually packed and will cost one Euro.

McDonalds is strengthening its market position in Italy, where it has been present for 25 years. In 2009 McDonalds had a turnover of 834 million Euros (+9.4% on 2008). There are 392 restaurants in Italy and McDonalds employs 13,300 people.
