Conservative party UK requires ombudsman for differences between retail and grower
The Conservative Party of Great Britain want to appoint an ombudsman for differences between supermarkets and farmers and market gardeners. The party have advised farmers union NFU in this regard. The NFU had already earlier made the idea for a supermarket ombudsman known to the politicians. The Conservative Party have now undertaken to make this appointment, if they win the election this spring.
NFU chairman Peter Kendall is happy with this undertaking. "The Conservatives pay attention to what is good for the consumer and for the food producer" he said
to-day.
Mediation and control
The supermarket ombudsman must act on complaints from entrepreneurs supplying supermarkets and are to mediate in disputes. Another task, according to NFU, is control on the agreements between supermarkets and their suppliers.
