Global Fruit Point GmbH: Direct Presence in Eastern Europa
Since early November 2009 Global Fruit Point GmbH, of Buxtehude, has a direct representation in Eastern Europe. Global Fruit Point Direct s.r.o. has started its activities in Prague under the direction of general manager Alexis Schlenew who has longstanding experience and is well known in the fruit sector for his former activities in Spain and Eastern Europe, amongst others.
With the opening of an office in the Czech capital, Global Fruit Point responds to the wishes of numerous retail companies in Europe – many of them subsidiaries of German groups – to be supplied directly with fresh fruit from overseas and European production. The company aims to position itself in the expanding East European market as an efficient partner for both food retail companies and producers/exporters.

For the time being GFP Direct supplies mainly customers in the Czech Republic, Poland, Rumania and Slovakia. Global Fruit Point is open for all types of cooperation and delivers its produce not only to the big retail groups but also for example to other wholesalers. As a second step, they are considering also the supply of Russia and the Baltic states.
The customers in Eastern Europe are offered the whole product range of GFP Buxtehude which comprises, apart from the broad range of table grapes, mainly deciduous, citrus and tropical fruit. In addition, the Prague office also does its own imports. The fruit is distributed both in Eastern Europe and – through GFP Buxtehude – Western Europe. Transport is organized directly from the Rotterdam or Hamburg port to the central warehouse of the customer.
For its import and distribution activities, as well as for administrative and financial purposes, the Prague office closely cooperates with GFP Buxtehude that holds a majority participation in GFP Direct. Both offices use the same merchandise management system which guarantees a maximum reliability of the operative process.
The company Global Fruit Point offers clear advantages to its cooperation partners: The direct supply of the fruit means utmost freshness and attractive prices for the retail companies and major returns for the growers/exporters thanks to the exclusion of intermediaries. GFP’s own QA department assures complete traceability and food safety.
