Spain: Verdimed is awarded first prize in the Murcia Flexible Company

The Company has been honoured in the large company category for its balance between work and family life.

Verdimed SA has been honoured with first prize Murcia Flexible Company, within the large company category, in the third edition of the awards presented by the Foundation EDYDE and CVA, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment. This award recognizes the work this company from the Murcia Region is doing to improve the balance of professional, personal and family life for their workers, "something Verdimed has decisively strived for. This was highlighted by the Head of Human Resources of Verdimed, Miguel Moreno, who received the award at the headquarters of CROEM at the hands of Joseph Velez Álvarez, Director of Labor in the Region of Murcia.



The interest of this company in gender issues is a constant, thus applying the principle of equal opportunities between women and men in all facets of their company. Thus, for the same activity in the offices, stores and farms, both sexes are equally paid.

In addition, the company is particularly sensitive to diversity issues, always trying to adapt to the specific schedules of all groups of foreigners in the workforce. They have created a CD of integration to solve the problem of diversity and awareness of equality issues. They also have an interactive CD and Manual Reception a pioneering project in the agricultural sector, made in both Spanish and Arabic. They offer an intranet as a means of communication with employees, provide counselling services for family reunification and special measures so that staff can meet their cultural or religious holidays as Ramadan.

They also have extended leave for family reasons (sickness, death, hospitalization, surgery, etc..) to four days, if in the same locality, and six, if required to travel. They have also extended by one year a child's age from 8 to 9 years to qualify for reduced working hours for childcare; they even have agreements with various associations of disabled people to promote their integration in the workplace.
