Russia’s inflation in 2009 to be lower than 10%

It is evident that Russia’s inflation in 2009 will be lower than 10 percent, first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) Gennady Melikyan said at a meeting with bankers.

According to the results of “the year, inflation will evidently be lower than 10 percent, and even then because earlier it was high, we have zero inflation of late. We try to lower inflation and the rate of interest on credits,” Melikyan said.

He recalled that as inflation lowers, the Bank of Russia also makes decisions on lowering the rate of refinancing.
