Mack Multiples reinforce their credentials as a market innovator with another grape variety new to the UK
Hot on the heels of their announcement about the release of the ARRA grape
varieties, Mack Multiples have reinforced their credentials as a market innovator with another grape variety new to the UK.
They’ve been working with Anton Caratan (breeder and grower) and with Darrel Fulmer of Sunfresh International (owner of the marketing rights) on their very successful variety of late season white grape, Pristine. Mack have just received the first commercial volumes of this year’s exported crop from California, making Mack the first to introduce it to the UK market.

Pristine was developed to fill a niche in the US market. Caratan and Fulmer were looking for a late season white grape that was good enough eating to make a genuine
extension to the US season. The American market favours a large,
crunchy berry – something evident in the distinctive characteristics of
Pristine variety.

A very different grape by virtue of its crunchy texture, Pristine is causing something of a stir already in the UK. Mack are conducting research into its potential and if
successful, will look to introduce the variety to their growers around
the world.
