India: FieldFresh Foods to invest Rs 100 crore on processing plant
FieldFresh Foods, a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Del Monte Pacific, will invest around Rs 100 crore for setting up a food processing facility in India as it forays into the processed food and beverages (F&B) segment.
The JV, in which Bharti has 58.9 per cent stake and the rest is with Del Monte, launched a range of products in the F&B category from the latter&aposs portfolio. It will set up a green field facility near Hosur in Tamil Nadu to produce a range of food and beverage products for the Indian market.
"We are delighted to bring Del Monte to India. This is a significant milestone for the company as we make our entry into the processed food and beverage segments," Bharti Enterprises Vice Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Bharti Mittal said.
The company will make an initial investment of about Rs 100 crore towards setting up the new facility, which is expected to start operations in 2010, it said.
FieldFresh launched a range of Del Monte products, including fruit drinks, packaged fruits and ketchups. These would be available in 15 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune by the year-end in the first phase, it said.
