Pipfruit market outlook...
ASIA
Sales in Asia continue at reasonable prices as shipping of Pacific QueenTM, Pacific
RoseTM and Fuji commence. Demand for Royal Gala has dropped away but most
remaining fruit is in CA for late supply. On Royal Gala to date we have shipped 62%
of the pre season estimate. Shipped volumes of early varieties such as Pacific BeautyTM and Cox Orange are well down on preseason estimates.
US
In North America, the remaining US stock is 13 million TCEs higher than last year. This will impact on the size of the market window for some weeks.
EU
The first Royal Gala sales are now being made in Europe at levels around €18- 20. Pressure on higher prices is coming from poor quality Royal Gala from other Southern Hemisphere origins selling at €12-15. Good discipline will be important over the next couple of weeks to establish stable sales prices.
