Jetstick New Zealand introduces new packhouse box labelling method
Air-Shot labelling technology has been pioneered by Jetstick Ltd in New
Zealand since 2001 and is currently used in fruit label application.
It is particularly suitable for pack-house box and carton labelling. Therefore
the New Zealand labelling company Jetstick Ltd. has taken the
technology and developed 2 applicators for labelling boxes and cartons.
Jetstick has introduced 2 new applicators designed for high-speed and accurate box labelling. Both applicators have been developed to operate with standard thermal printers to provide a simple and effective print & apply solution utilising either pre-printed labels which can have additional information added such as ’packed-on’ or ‘use by’ dates or direct thermal transfer print to allow a wider range of label information.
Jetstick’s applicators are priced to be affordable and easily incorporated into pack-house systems. Installations have commenced at 2 New Zealand kiwifruit pack-houses where automated box labelling processes are being introduced.

Applicator description:
1. The Jetstick Industrial Labeller (JIA)
This model is a flexible applicator and is capable of applying labels to either the side, end or top of boxes and cartons. The JIA accurately propels labels up to 100mm and operates at 1 label per 2 seconds. Labels from 50mm square to 150mm square can be applied.
2.The Rapid Dispenser Labeller (RDL)
This model is suitable for labelling the top of clam-shell punnets or packages that are rapidly transported on conveyer belts. 4 labels per second can be applied. The RDL is intended for box-top labelling but can easily be side or angle-mounted to apply labels to the side or end of boxes.
Applicator Technical information.
Operating Method:
Step I. The label is dispensed by a thermal printer onto the face of the air amplifier (applicator) and is held there by suction.
Step II. The air-amplifier and label then shifts to the labelling position.
Step III. The suction is then released and a shot of air propels the label onto the target box / package.
Material:
The applicator is of aluminium construction and is RoHS compliant.
Benefits:
1. Non-contact with product - no possible product damage.
2. High speed.
3. Accurate label placement.
4. Applies labels to irregular or uneven surfaces.
Jetstick has established a distribution network in most markets and can provide technical support to any packhouse considering automated labelling. The 2 applicators can be viewed on You-Tube videos by using the reference word Jetstick. Prospective users would find it helpful to view the videos to better understand the above technical points.
