Del Monte opens new factory in Dubai
Del Monte, a US producer of fresh fruit products, has opened an AED 91 million (US $24.7 million) fresh cut factory in Dubai to produce fresh juices, packaged fresh-cut leaf salads and fresh-cut fruits including Del Monte's famous ‘Gold Pineapple'.
The 30,000 sq m factory, which is adjacent to Dubai's new fruit and vegetable market, has several production lines and a cold storage and ripening facility, which has a capacity to ripen 4,500 tonnes of fruit a year. Its ripening section is set to produce two million boxes a year, while its fresh juice line is set to supply 12 million litres.
Del Monte sees a great opportunity for growth in the Middle East's fresh cut market, particularly in the catering sector.
