PMA plans Fresh Connections industry networking event in Guadalajara, Mexico
Produce industry members in the Guadalajara, Mexico, area can enjoy a local networking opportunity when Produce Marketing Association (PMA) hosts an evening reception there on May 29. The event is part of PMA’s ongoing Fresh Connections events to reach out to members in their own backyards, and to provide prospective members the chance to experience the benefits of PMA membership and community firsthand. The Fresh Connections reception is being held after a meeting of the Mexico Country Council on the same day. Both events will be held at Hotel InterContinental Presidente Guadalajara.
The complimentary, two-hour Fresh Connections evening reception is designed to provide a local industry networking opportunity, highlighting the type of business relationship-building opportunities – as well as the expert information resources – available only through PMA. For example, PMA offers a host of products and services en español, including PMA’s Headline News customizable news digest service, a variety of management and business development resources including PMA’s crisis management planning manual, and retail and foodservice guides and posters. In addition, key sections on the PMA Web site can be viewed in Spanish.
“While some non-U.S. members see their PMA membership as a gateway to the U.S. market by attending and networking at PMA’s annual Fresh Summit Conference and Exposition, they are increasingly being attracted to PMA by our expanding information resources,” said PMA President Bryan Silbermann. “This Fresh Connections Mexico event aims to introduce member prospects in the Guadalajara area to these business resources. And it also provides our staff with firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities the Mexican produce industry faces, and how PMA can better help address them.”
“The country council is excited to have PMA staff joining us in Guadalajara,” said council Chairman Francisco Obregon, director of produce, Latin America business development division, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn. “This will be a unique opportunity for industry members and prospects to come together and learn more about their association in the process. It also gives us a chance to help expand PMA’s knowledge, experience and service to the Mexican produce industry.”
In addition to taking Fresh Connections educational and networking opportunities to key produce regions of the world such as Mexico, Australia and Chile, PMA also enlists the services of in-country representatives to boost members’ local access to PMA. Alejandro Larreategui, a Mexican marketing and produce industry veteran, serves as PMA’s Mexican liaison working to communicate the value PMA offers to Mexican members and to keep the finger on the pulse of local industry’s hot topics.
Attendance at the Fresh Connections Mexico reception is complimentary, but registration is required. Learn more by visiting www.pma.com/events/freshconnectionsMexico.cfm, or by contacting Alejandro Larreategui, PMA representative in Mexico, by phone at +52 (81) 8004-1011 or by email at ALarreategui@pma.com.
