"Food Waste Free" e-book for households"

California Giant Berry Farms just released a Food Waste Free e-book to support the growing concern in the U.S. about food waste. Some research studies suggest as much as 40% of our fresh produce winds up, not in our stomachs, but in the trash.

The company felt the timing was right to talk about food waste with Spring right around the corner and the consumer desire for spring cleaning along with increased berry consumption as the weather warms and berry supply increases. This is also an important issue to address based on new information released recently by the EPA sustainability website. This new website encourages individuals and businesses to reduce the amount of food in landfills by reducing waste, donating food, and composting.

California Giant decided to turn this negative into a positive and created an e-book called ‘Food Waste Free” to help consumers find new ways to use up those berries in the fridge that may be at the end of their shelf life. Providing ways to use all berries and reducing waste is another way to provide shoppers with quick and easy solutions they desperately search for every day. The e-book contains easy
ways to help shop, plan and prep food reducing overall waste and features some delicious and fun recipes that utilize California Giant berries in various ways. It also provides tips on the best ways to freeze or dry berries to be used later.

The California Giant Food Waste Free e-book will be promoted through all social media channels targeting new and existing California Giant shoppers and inspiring them to be #FoodWasteFree. “We are joining our consumers that want to battle food waste starting with our berries, and then Work together finding ways food waste can be reduced or prevented with great recipes and creative ideas” says Cindy Jewell, VP of Marketing.

The free downloadable PDF will be promoted from March 1, 2016 – March 22, 2016, just in time for Spring, and will continue to live on the website ‘free stuff’ page and be included in ongoing conversation within the blog and other relevant conversations with Cal Giant berry shoppers.
