AU: Banana-a-peel for Royal Children’s Hospital

Tuesday June 16th, 2015 marks the first official shipment of bananas from the new L&R Collins farm in Lakeland, QLD. To commemorate the occasion, Director Len Collins will donate all sales from his first pallet of bananas to The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne (RCH).

The Banana a-peel will take place from 6am at Moraitis Bananas; stands 352-358, Melbourne Wholesale Markets, 542 Footscray Road, West Melbourne.

“Carton of bananas from the first pallet of L&R Collins Lakelands will be available for purchase for $1,000 each. Every dollar raised will be donated to the RCH” says Collins.

The RCH has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 140 years.

The RCH is the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and their care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

Family owned and operated, L&R Collins have been pioneering alternate growing regions for the Australian banana industry for over 42 years. The new Lakelands farm will enable geographic diversity from current operations in Tully, meaning premium quality fruit production from both sites and mitigated risk of weather events and disease.
