CPMA launches first Freggie™ Chef Day

On May 27th, 2015, 60 students from Millwood Elementary in Lower Sackville will work with local Chef Bee Choo Char, Chef Jon Geneau and Chef Scott Geddes to create healthy, easy, kid friendly lunches. The day will focus on health, food skills and great taste. As well as the food stations, children will get to take fun photos with CPMA children mascot Freggie™ and participate in a Half Your Plate activity.

“The CPMA Freggie™ Children’s program was created to improve food skills among children and empower them by teaching the benefits of eating more fruits and vegetables at every meal,” says Ron Lemaire, CPMA President. “We’re hoping this event can provide awareness at the community level as to the benefits of teaching children to cook and sending them to school with more nutritious lunches.”

Each chef will work with a group of 12 students to cook recipes that the children could make on their own at home. All students will have the opportunity to sample the creations, and will then be asked to vote for their favorite. The recipes and information on the Chef featured will be compiled into a recipe booklet which students will take home to share with their families.

After the event the students will walk away with new recipes and swag bags with products from Sunset, Mucci Farms, Chiquita, Earth Fresh, Nova Agri and Van Meekeren Farms.
