"Although we will continue selling Tarocco oranges throughout April, the blood orange season is ending. The foreign markets absorbed a lot of produce so there was a drop in supply in late March/early April and the lack of produce affected the length of the season and the prices."
"Unfortunately, there will be less oranges in the future due to the Tristeza virus, that is why we as a Producer Organisation are working on renewing the sector and planting new Tarocco varieties such as Ippolito and Meli. We are talking about 1,100+ hectares in the Catania area."

"The quality peaked around March 20th both in terms of sugar content and colour. This means we can aim at a campaign that lasts for 5 months - from December 8th-10th to mid-May. We are trying to cover the whole period with early and late varieties. This is also important to respect the consumption habits of families, which is rather constant during this period."
