Asparagus season begins in France

Asparagus producers brought their first harvest to the shops on Thursday. The asparagus are of an early variety and look good, tender, and are certainly very tasty.

The asparagus are sold for €5 to €7/kilo bunch. On Sunday the Asparagus Festival will take place, where the highlight of the day will be the 22nd bundling world championship. This is followed by the traditional giant omelette made with at least 35 kilos of asparagus and 1,400 eggs.
