AU: Piñata Honey Gold mangoes set for bumper season

Honey Gold mango flowering is in full bloom in the Northern Territory, indicating to producer Piñata Farms that a bumper season can be expected this summer.

An unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, captured this view (above) of Peter and Julie Deans’ Honey Gold mango crop at Katherine. The Deans have been growing Honey Gold mangoes under licence for Piñata Farms since 2002 and have 1,800 Honey Gold mango trees, as well as 1,200 Kensington Pride trees under cultivation at their property on the Katherine River.

Grown exclusively by Piñata Farms' family farmers where some 140,000 trees in five states are under cultivation, Honey Gold mangoes are available between November and March. Managing director, Gavin Scurr said pre-season conditions in the Northern Territory had been ideal and he expected harvesting to begin on schedule in early November.
