Argentina may increase its exports to Russia by 50 to 100%

"Argentine exports to Russia are expected to grow between 50 and 100 percent, which opens an opportunity for the province of San Juan," said Leonardo Boto, executive director of the Exportar Foundation, yesterday in San Juan.

"I think San Juan can increase exports to Russia as much as Argentina because sometimes these extraordinary opportunities help consolidate products in the world. We have to understand that these sanctions imposed by the Russian government to certain countries are an opportunity for us and must seize it," added the manager.

Boto visited governor Gioia and asked local employers to seize the opportunities offered by the foundation to participate in international fairs and missions, as well as getting guidance in all matters relating to the increase of exports. Regarding the sanctions applied by Russia on its traditional food suppliers, Boto said that Argentina had detected Russia demanded "wine products, fresh and dried fruits, among other foods, worth 9.000 million dollars, " the visit headed by the minister of agriculture, Casamiquela, to Russia last month.

Therefore, Boto invited producers to attend the next World Food fair at Moscow, where Argentina will have a booth. The Exportar Foundation provides assistance to companies that wish to export and has formed 75 groups, 7 of which are located in San Juan, 5 in Mendoza and 1 in La Rioja. "There are 2 wine exporting groups in San Juan, comprised by 8 companies that have $1,250,000 dollars in exportable goods," he said.
