Honduras expands markets for tubers and ginger

The representative of the Association of Producers, Hilsa Díaz Zelaya, said Honduras had increased its exports of taro, yams, and other non-traditional products to the European market.

The country is opening new markets and almost all are related to tubers such as taro, sweet potato, potato, and ginger.

Diaz Zelaya reiterated that these exports are especially intended for the European and Canadian markets, which pay very well, but did not specify the amounts of products exported.

Honduras "must learn not to depend only on the U.S. market," she said, and added that they needed to take a look at the Mexican market, where the jalapeno will have good space.
