The vegetables were imported from Poland.

Detection of Californian Thrips – a pest of most vegetable crops and flower plants – has been confirmed by laboratory analysis tests. Contaminated aubergines (1.1 tonne) have been sent for decontamination.

Information about pest
Californian (western) Thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) - a pest not widely spread in Russian Federation. It damages plants and crops, what consequently leads to yield losses. Moreover, it is a carrier contagious of dangerous plant diseases. This pest infests more than 250 different crops.
