Brazil: Banana plantations in the Mato Grosso are threatened by the Black sigatoka

The Official Journal of the Federal Republic of Brazil published Normative Instruction No. 15, superseding Statement No. 39, from December 30, 2008, which recognized the area as free of black sigatoka.

According to the Secretariat of Agricultural Protection (SDA), the revocation was requested by the Superintendent of Agriculture in Mato Grosso because of the outbreaks of plague that were found in the free areas covered by the municipalities of Alto da Boa Vista, Bom Jesus do Araguaia, Cana Brava do Norte, Confresa, Luciara, Novo Santo Antonio, Porto Alegre do Norte, Querência, Ribeirão Cascalheira, Santa Cruz do Xingu, Santa Terezinha, São Felix do Araguaia, São José do Xingu, Serra Nova Dourada and Vila Rica.
