Ocean Spray to open $110 million, 315,000-square-foot facility

A $110 million, 315,000-square-foot bottling factory constructed for Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. has been completed.

A ceremonial grand opening for the facility on 45 acres at 151 Boulder Drive in Upper Macungie, Pa., is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development made available $4.52 million in incentives through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority to construct the building. So far, it has applied for and received $450,000 through the Pennsylvania First Program and is eligible to receive up to $74,250 to train its new workforce.

The company will close this summer a 500,000-square-foot factory in Bordentown City, N.J., once it decided to relocate and build in Pennsylvania.

Once fully operational, the Upper Macungie plant will handle about 40 percent of the company’s beverage volume.
