Frozen vegetables top exports with 20,925.8 tons in 2013

In the first quarter of this year, Tai An city of Shandong Province’s vegetables exports of total 7,940 tons, amounting to 16.32 million USD in revenue. Frozen and fresh vegetables top the export list.

Vegetable exports is a specialty of Tai An city. There are 4 types of processed vegetables: fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables, dehydrated vegetables, and pickled vegetables. Of the 4, frozen vegetables exports are the most popular.

For the whole year of 2013, total frozen vegetables exports alone are at 20,925.8 tons, totaling sales revenues of 35.12 million USD. It is the first agricultural export product of the city to reach the 20,000 ton mark. Frozen vegetable exports account for 66.5% of the total volume of exports and 57.8% of the total value of exports of the city.

According to the Tai An Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the vegetables are mainly exported to Japan, the US, Canada and the European Union. Other recently opened channels are to New Zealand, Mexico and other countries.
