Canary Is. increase banana exports to the Spanish peninsula and Baleares Is.
The first ten months of the year, the banana export increased 16 million kilos with respect to the last year. Canary Is. exported to the islands and the peninsula in October a total of 21,847,631 kilos of bananas; this supposes an increase of 253,050 kilos (1.17%) with respect to the previous year.
Tenerife increased exports (9,593,935 kilos) in the last 9 months of 2007 2.73% with respect to the same period in 2006. La Palma exported 8,764,717 kilos or a decresing of 2.52%. Gran Canaria exported 3,019,641 kilos or an increasing of 8.87%.
La Gomera exported 264,748 kilos or a decreasing of 11.47%. Finally, El Hierro exported 204,590 kilos or an increasing of 6.43%.
Market share is distributed as follows: Tenerife (43.91%); La Palma (40,12%); Gran Canaria (13,82%); La Gomera (1,21%) and El Hierro (0,94%) of the total of the Canary Is.. Overall Canary Is. exports increased 6.5%.
