Our client is a well known internationally operating company which concentrates itself on the production of cuttings and young plants. The company has subsidiaries in Italy, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, El Salvador and China. For the strengthening of their team in Ethiopia we are looking for aTechnical Manager

In this modern and growing nursery of 32 ha, over 1,500 employees (inclusive of seasonal staff) focus on the production of cuttings and young plants. Crops include Poinsettia, Pelargonium and a variety of bedding plants.
Job description
You will manage the local team of technical staff, report directly to the General Manager and cooperate with the Production manager and other managers. You are responsible for the continuity, reliability and technical state of the location and its technical facilities. Additional tasks will be the internal planning, control and evaluation of the technical work done by own staff or external companies, without hindering the production.
Although a number of areas of experience are mentioned below, the focal point will be having enough experience or knowledge of electro technical maintenance to ensure a smooth running of the irrigation and fertigation systems, process water supply, UV disinfection, energy supply and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Technical operational reliability of the nursery
- Maintenance of all electro technical facilities like HVAC systems, UV disinfection, irrigation and fertigation systems and water supply
- Planning, organization and implementation of new installations
- Project management in respect of new installations and new buildings
- Close communication with all related departments externally and internally
- Manage the local technical team
- Training of staff members and responsible supervisors
- Inventory planning and management for technical materials
- Improvement of process and output efficiency
- Weekend duty
We require candidates with
- Wide experience in electro technical installations
- Knowledge and experience also appreciated in the fields of mechanics, process and control technology, HVAC systems, cooling technology, automation, electronics, engineering, pump technology and welding techniques
- IT knowledge and use of MS-Office products
- Hands-on mentality
- Good communication and social skills
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Leadership skills and experience
- Fluency in English, German is an advantage
- Driving license
