POST HARVEST SPECIALIST
(Based in Headquarters in Selangor, Malaysia)
Job responsibilities:
- Coordinate post harvest handling and storage systems to ensure optimum shelf-life management and restoration
- Responsible fully in managing and implementing all projects related to post harvest management
- Develop standards of comprehensive and appropriate post harvest handling methods such as biological deterioration management, temperature / climate control, storage hygiene and packaging
- Prepare activity programs appropriate to short term, medium-term and long-term post harvest projects
- Monitor, check and evaluate the progress and development of post harvest engineering and handling of external operations and services to ensure optimum post harvest activities
- Formulate, draft, implement and monitor innovative interventions within the post harvest sector, that will among other things promote access and use of appropriate technology
Requirements:
- Possess qualification (degree and above), experience and proven track record in horticulture, botanical science and / or agro-based studies and research of fresh fruits and/or vegetables
- Well presented as subject leader in all matters relating to post harvest processes, methodologies and systems
- Ability to understand plant psychology, pathology and life cycle
- Clear understanding of Supply Chain Management that extends beyond the concept of "farm gate to retail gate"
- Ability to apply practical approach of methodologies and principles in planning and execution of entire pre to post harvest system
- Possess good leadership and communication skills
- Possess creative thinking skills and able to adapt well to challenges
