Contract Farming Manager (Al Ain, UAE)

About the role
The Contract Farming Manager will be based in Abu Dhabi with the responsibility of managing and providing direction for all Contract Farmers and contract farming activities in the Abu Dhabi Emirate and ensure all objectives of the unit are met in an effective and efficient manner. The contract will initially be for 6 months with a possible extension.

Key responsibilities include

  • Promote the contract farm manager approach to farmers;
  • Develop the contract farm manager operational framework;
  • Supervise the Contract Farm Managers based in Abu Dhabi Emirate;
  • Assist Contract Farm Managers with the preparation of individual farm development and management plans;
  • Review individual farm development plans and evaluate after 12 months;
  • Maintain and update a standard contract between the farmer and the FSC for the provision of contract management support;
  • Provide relevant training to Farm Contract Managers;
  • In consultation with Contract Farm Managers, develop a training program for assistant contract management staff;
  • Contribute to the preparation of corporate documentation, including business plans and budgets;

About You
Selection criteria

A Bachelorís Degree or Diploma and professional qualification in agriculture or a related field is desirable
A driving license from country of origin( or international driving license)
A minimum of 10 years practical farm management experience
Knowledge of international best practice in the production of agricultural products
Leadership experience in change management
Experience in working within a multi-layered organizational structure with an international staffing profile and operating out of several dispersed offices
Overseas experience combined with working in isolated regions
Strong communication, presentation and liaison skills
An open, flexible and innovative working style
Excellent face to face communication, presentation and consulting skills
Ability to handle ambiguity and create innovative practical solutions
Ability to build positive relationships with multiple stakeholder groups
Be an effective team player who is able to work both in a team environment as well as independently
A knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage but not essential

About Us
The Farmersí Service Centre (FSC) is an Abu Dhabi government initiative implemented to facilitate a change in the manner in which agriculture and agribusiness are conducted in the Western Region of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. This encompasses the entire spectrum from on-farm production to retail sales.
The broader objective encompasses a progression from a government supported agriculture sector to a more market based sector. To this end, the Abu Dhabi Government has contracted GRM International Pty Ltd to facilitate the formation of the Abu Dhabi Farmersí Service Centre to a fully functioning, locally managed organisation.
