Nursery Systems Manager

Our Client
Our client is a leading horticulture company, producing the highest quality fresh berries in Australia. The company is undergoing significant growth and requires a high-level and experienced Nursery Systems Manager. This is a key role within the company and the successful candidate will be an integral part of the senior management team as well as part of a global network of technical expertise within the business.   
 
Role
This role would lead the nursery operation that produces four types of berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries) using advanced propagation techniques across a range of planting systems including Long Cane Rubus, Containerised and Tray Systems. This person would lead the way in researching and developing further cutting-edge propagation techniques and growing systems, with full autonomy and decision-making abilities for the development and all nursery system plant production methods for the business. This would involve the delivery of training and guidance to the technical and nursery teams across the business.

Candidate Attributes
The person for this role will have the following key attributes:
    High-level technical skills and experience in advanced nursery plant propagation techniques and growing systems
    Knowledge and experience in berry production would be a real advantage
    Understanding of optimum propagation techniques and plant health requirements
    Understanding of best practice pest and disease management programs
    Superior leadership skills
    Ability to work autonomously
    Able to train and mentor technical and nursery teams

Requirements
    Qualifications in horticulture, plant science, tissue culture
    Ability to stay abreast of global research and development with rapid testing and implementation of new improved techniques and systems
    Leadership and communication - demonstrable leadership of teams and the ability to make a real contribution within the senior management team

Remuneration and Location
An excellent remuneration package is on offer to attract the right person for this role. For international candidates this would include employer sponsorship, visa application assistance and relocation costs. Location is flexible including Tasmania, Queensland or Victoria.
