Netherlands: First Turkish cherries from Yavuzlar at Van Ooijen Citrus

At Van Ooijen Citrus they've just received the first lorry load of Turkish cherries from Yavuzlar. After an export-sabbatical of a few years they are happy to be making this new start.

The cherries were well known in the past for the famous brands "Cherryman," "Cherryking" and "Yavuzlar."

The cherries are reported to be of high quality with a nice dark colour. They are sorted into sizes 28+, 26+ and 24+ in 5 kg.

The cherries are packaged in both wooden boxes and cartons.

The market is looking favourable for Turkish cherries this year. Prices are stable in the Netherlands and Belgium, though in Turkey they keep rising. In the Netherlands there is shortage of cherries this year freeing up market space for the Turkish imports.
