NL: GR Organics rebrands as Organic Fruit and Vegetables

From May 18, GR Organics International B.V. will be located at ABC Westland in Poeldijk, The Netherlands. Now all logistic activities have been delegated to specialists, GR can completely focus on the sourcing for capable growers/producers and market these products at the best possible way. GR Organics Will intensively cooperate with ABC Logistics for storage and cooling from their products and with Europe Retail packing to have these products packed according to the request of the client. And all activities under one roof.

"We are dealing with winners now." Peter Abma says. "Now ABC Logistics takes care of the right storage, cooling, order picking and distribution and Europe Retail Packing supplies all the demanded service for prepacking of the product according to the specifications of our clients, we can fully focus on the things we are good at. The big winners are our clients and suppliers due to several reasons. In Nieuw Vennep (the previous location) we needed to think ahead for ourselves and for our clients. We needed to know if orders came in to make sure we could arrange transport and prepacking in time. If a client called us at 13:00 for an extra order, we needed to say "no" in some cases due to our location. And every time "no" is once too much. The word "no" can be deleted from our dictionary now," said Peter. "But OK, we developed these skills and we can use that even now in a perfect atmosphere. Besides that we can even be more clear to our growers. Of course ABC Logistics asks a fee for the storage and other logistic activities they help us with, but we know exactly how much and we can show that to our growers with the invoices we received. We have never had issues about that with our suppliers and this way we can exclude issues about that forever. Also the extreme efficient way of working in our new facilities will most probably result in higher returns to our growers."

According to Erik Rustenburg the saving of costs over the year is substantial. "It’s not only the transport costs that will be dramatically reduced, also regarding the housing this solution is much smarter. The past 3 years we did all our logistics by ourselves. Around this time our coldstores are full and in some weeks even too small. But just like all other specialized importers we have a period that we have less products and less sales. In that more quit period all costs for the building stay the same. In the new situation we have more costs when we have more sales and less costs if we have less sales. With all these reductions of costs the result will increase rapidly, even at the short term."

According to Erik and Peter with a new start belongs a new name. "So then it’s time to think of a new name which needs to be simple, clear and effective," Peter said at the time. "And in only an instant Erik came up with "Organic Fruit and Vegetables B.V." Too simple? I don’t think so. At least nobody has to ask what we are doing. And how we will pick up the phone? We have to think about that. Maybe all of the sudden an abbreviation occurs. Right when we move we start operating under the new name."

Organic Fruit and Vegetables B.V. imports their fruit mostly from Greece and overseas countries. They have their year round focus on Citrus, Apples, Pears and Kiwi. Besides that in the right season they import several varieties of Melons, Stonefruit and Avocado. And as the company name makes clear - all organically grown.
