Spain: Fruit Attraction 2012 27% more space

The space hired by exhibitors for Fruit Attraction 2012 - the International Fair of fruit and vegetables - taking place 24 to 26 of October, in Madrid, grew 27% regarding the same dates last year and 20% regarding the total area of the 2011 edition, reflecting excellent perspectives of participation and growth, according the Organizing Committee.

According to FEPEX and IFEMA, this expansion shows the need for this kind of project, celebrating its fourth edition this year. Good perspectives confirm that, despite the economic crisis which also affected the producing and commerce activities for fruit and vegetables, the sector sees Fruit Attraction as a tool to boost business.

The edition IV of Fruit Attraction will include Grape Attraction, the world forum for seedless grapes. This meeting, which had its first edition during Fruit Attraction 2010, will organize its second edition this year and will reunite a wide representation of production, investigation and commerce of this grape from all over the world, from the United States, South Africa, Chile to Israel, Peru and others.

The International Symposium on plums and cherries will also be held, organized by the Polytechnic Superior School of Orihuela (Alicante) by the University Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH).

The parallel activities to promote the consumption of fruit and vegetables, will be developed in the Fruit Fusion section and they will continue the activities started in the years before, like the II National Prize for the best vegetable dish, a competition to select, among several Spanish restaurants, the most exquisite recipe made with horticultural products. The Chopping Contest and the Vegetables Week will also be celebrated, among other activities.

The Fruit Attraction Organizing Committee is made up, mainly, by representatives of associations within FEPEX and the distribution association, wholesalers and markets.
