Company celebrates 20th aniversary
PFM scores with UK customers

International packaging specialists, The PFM Group, celebrated 20 years of operating in the UK by hosting an open day at its Leeds based operation. The event was designed to thank its customers for their ongoing support and give them an opportunity to tour the facilities.

PFM's customers were able meet the owners of the Group and other key members of the management teams from its other Italian manufacturing sites.

The occasion provided a chance for the company to unveil details of the recent formation of PFMeccanica, which was created within the PFM Group to supply component parts to the four manufacturing sites in the North of Italy.

Key speakers at the event were group managing director Paolo Fioravanti and UK sales and operations director Chris Bolton who spoke about PFM's on-going UK achievements.

They highlighted the company's extensive range of over 30 machines, its capabilities and influences in numerous industries, including cheese, snack products and wet tissues.

Supplying to Blue Chip companies has contributed to the company's impressive annual growth of 15 percent with turnover trebling in the last seven years. The acquisition of packaging and machinery experts BG Pack, MBP and SPS has created opportunities in development, expansion and diversification into new market areas.

Twenty years ago the Italy-based PFM Group had a small rented industrial unit in the UK with three employees, today it is the owner of a 8,600 square feet site where it is now a major supplier of horizontal flowrap, vertical form fill and seal and multihead weighing equipment.

PFM UK is the primary supplier of wrapping machinery to the UK dairy industry and has been instrumental in developing the flowrap market for cheese, building an excellent worldwide reputation as market leaders for this type of packaging equipment.

Its key customers include numerous UK and Irish companies, such as the Kerry Group, Dairy Crest, First Milk and a well known crisp manufacturer, PFM UK hopes to maintain its high profile in the UK and European dairy markets.

Plans for the future involve further promotion of SPS as a leading manufacturer of biscuit and bar packaging systems, marketing and expanding the UK market for the PFM/MBP range of multihead weighers and continued growth for all aspects of the PFM Group.

Mr Bolton summed the day up: "The whole event was a great success and I believe that we met our objective which was to give our customers an informative and useful insight into what the PFM Group and PFM UK want to achieve. We have excellent relationships with our customers and we endeavor to keep building on them. The day provided us with an opportunity to show them how grateful the company is for their encouragement and support."
