South Africa: Exports to Europe down

In South Africa’s Berg River Region the last Crimson Seedless and Dauphine is being packed. It is expected that all packing activities in the region will be completed by the end of Week 12. Meanwhile in the Hex River Valley mid season cultivars are still being packed, especially high volumes of Crimson Seedless, Autumn Royal, La Rochelle and Redglobe. The first Dauphine and Barlinka are also being packed. The packing tempo is still high as all these cultivars are ripening at the same time. According to industry body SATI quality is very good.

Export volumes up to week 10 are 46,590,275 cartons. Volumes to the UK are up this season but Northern European exports are down by around 4.5 million cartons
