Lebanese citrus growers look to Iraq after Arab Spring disruption

Farmers in North Lebanon said last week that they would be seeking new markets for their citrus production after the Arab Spring had drastically reduced the potential of their traditional markets.

most of the citrus produced in the country would traditionally go to Syria, Libya and Egypt.

Representatives of the region's agricultural sector met at the Chamber of Commerce in Tripoli to discuss the talks between government officials and their industry counterparts in Iraq, over the possibility of marketing Lebanese produce there.
