Livorno Reefer Terminal (LRT) will be at Fruit Logistica 2012 (Berlin, 8-10 February), the most important fair in the world dedicated to the entire logistic chain of fresh produce trade. Livorno Reefer Terminal will be introduced in a stand with the Port Authority and the Chamber of Commerce of Livorno, entitled "Livorno Reefer Logistics Platform: The key link on the international cold chain."Fruit Logistica, with over 2,400 expected exhibitors from 75 countries in the world including the most important partners and decision makers, is the first worldwide showcase for Livorno Reefer Terminal, the port of Livorno's new logistics centre purpose-built for handling refrigerated products in the Mediterranean and their distribution in Europe. Second in Italy in terms of size, it was opened in September 2011.
LRT owns a large refrigerated warehouse of 11,000 square meters, just 40 meters from the quay. It has a capacity of 9,000 pallets and a handling potential of over 400,000 tonnes; it is also equipped with special doors for the rapid emptying of the refrigerated containers and with 70 refrigerated columns placed in the plant and near the warehouse for the power of reefers containing frozen products.
"Thanks to these features and a strategic geographical location in the Mediterranean Sea, a global partner such as Del Monte has already launched with LRT an important service in 2012 for landing pineapples, bananas and melons. Other interesting contacts are being negotiated," Enzo Raugei, President of LRT, said.
