"The lime prices are back at a normal level as a result of a lack of volume from Brazil. The restart of the Brazilian harvest starts next week and we expect a stable price until the end of December and from then on," says Lieve Michielsen of Special Fruit. "At the moment Mexico is still on the market, but we have to keep an eye on the quality as a result of the heavy rain in the country. Towards the end of December the Mexican volume will lessen and Brazil will begin to pull up in volume."
The demand for limes is quite stable at the moment. "There are few outliers up or down. Lime isn't a typical Christmas product, so the season continues as normal," according to Lieve. "The sales prices of limes are very spread between €6.50 - €8.50 and €13- for Brazilian product by airfreight. We expect the price to stabilise towards December."
