Jean-Philippe Coulange, Ets Meseguer:

France: "The citrus market is slow"

"The citrus market in France is a bit slow," says Jean-Philippe Coulange of Ets Meseguer. "There are many commodities like clementines from Morocco, Spain, Corsica and Portugal. At the same time, the demand is not very active. "

Prices are very variable from one product to another. "It goes from 0.70 € to 1.50 € per kilo," says Jean-Philippe. "It all depends on the origin and caliber. Corsican clementines are currently in high demand, because they benefits from the ‘French label’, but the supply is limited because of the rains in particular. "

Jean-Philippe adds that "the supply of clementines is very varied at present, with or without leaves. But these clementines have quality taste."

For lemons, Spanish products are virtually alone on the market. It's the peak season for the Primofioiri variety. "Because of the rain in Spain, there are not too many goods, and calibers go from small to medium. But the situation is starting to normalize, with increasing volumes. Jean-Philippe says that the demand for lemons is not bad. "For the moment it’s not going too bad, but prices regularly fall."
