A delegation of more than ten representatives from the food industry and catering companies from China visited Nieuw Reijerwaard on Thursday 25 October. Managers Tanja de Jonge and Henk van Os of the Gemeenschappelijke Regeling Nieuw Reijerwaard received the delegation, and gave the visitors a tour of the area. The Chinese also visited Van Gelder Groenten en Fruit, where they were impressed by the manner in which fresh fruit and vegetables are prepared for delivery to a broad range of buyers.
The visit consisted of a varied company of directors and managers of the Chinese food industry, retailers of food, logistical specialists and a training institute for the food industry. The group was accompanied by the substitute secretary-general of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Europe and the USA from Beijing.
