Pink, blue or purple: this is how the new Fenaco potatoes varieties look that are now on sale. These original potatoes are extremely versatile in terms of taste, color and use, Fenaco writes in a statement. There are numerous original types of potatoes in South America. However, only a few of them would meet today's requirements - agronomic, culinary and visual.
Most promising varieties
Dutch potato specialist HZPC has taken over the most interesting varieties and has started cultivating these in Europe. Again with a selection of the most promising varieties, HZPC created the Perupas concept, which Fenaco now offers as a Patart concept in Switzerland.
Cultivation at two locations
At this time, cultivation takes place at the locations Vechigen (BE) and Bätterkinden (BE). Since Fenaco will offer the product nationally, the cultivation is shortly to be extended to the whole of Switzerland. After three years of small-scale trials, the first significant quantities were grown in Switzerland in 2018. They will be added to the ranges of various retailers and catering suppliers.
