After the introduction of the two previous peeling machines for green and white asparagus of the most common calibres, machine supplier Hepro GmbH has further developed the HSM-3000. Now its big sister will appear on the market: The HSM-3000 Jumbo, for asparagus with a diameter of 18-42mm. The large-size peeling machine will be presented at the upcoming ExpoSE in Karlsruhe.
Unique peeling performance
Because of the high demand for oversized asparagus industrial peeling machines, the company has used the accumulated experience of the HSM-6000 Jumbo and transferred it to the HSM-3000 JUMBO. Thus, the machine is also interesting for customers who process quantities up to two tons of jumbo asparagus a day. ''The machine scores well, with a peeling capacity up to 3600 pieces per hour and also has 2 peeling lines with 8 pairs of knives, which produce near perfect peeling results with 16 cuts per article.''
Special positioning system
Next to the HSM-6000 Jumbo, the improved RSS model will be presented at the ExpoSE as well. Due to the permanently installed knife block and a special positioning system, a diamond-shaped cut is achieved. The head size is 20.5 mm, the piece size 25 mm. "With the 2018 changes, it's now possible to sort the pieces into head, center and end pieces, a sturdy incline adjustment up to 6 degrees makes it more adaptable to the user, the asparagus stems are more effectively being transported and handling has become more flexible," says a spokeswoman for Hepro GmbH.
Increasing demand for processing green asparagus
In addition to the new features already mentioned, the company is also constantly developing peeling automation for green asparagus. After all, the demand for these former exotics is constantly growing, and so is the demand for processed green asparagus. "Here we had to concentrate on the losses during peeling. In contrast to white asparagus, green asparagus are peeled only for the lower third part. In addition to this, the green asparagus is thinner and more sensitive at the head. Hepro GmbH has aligned its industrial peeling machines to fit green asparagus and has provided specially designed green asparagus sensors, grippers and peeling technology.
