China: Persimmon price decreased by 30%

It is a traditional custom to eat red persimmons in the season when "frost descends" [from October 23rd until November 7th]. The persimmons have not been on the market for more than ten days and retail has already reached its first peak. The price of persimmons is quite affordable this year. Many fruit shops and supermarkets used persimmon as their main promotional product. Fruit traders gradually lower their prices during the season when "frost descends".

Many consumers expected the price of persimmon to rise during this season, but much to their surprise the price dropped. It is one of the cheaper fruits this autumn. The price dropped around 30% during the season when "frost descends" in comparison with the previous week.
