Optimum cultivation conditions for brand apple JAZZ™

BayWa starts with good qualities in its second German JAZZ™ season

Following a successful debut last year BayWa has successfully completed the second commercial harvest of premium apple brand JAZZ™ in the region of Weisenheim am Sand, Rhineland-Palatinate. Despite the hot summer this year the fruit has presented excellent qualities and perfect coloration.

"We are pleased that we can build on the success of the previous year with this year's harvest. Our customers were already impressed by the quality of the first commercial quantities," says Bernd Kranz, manager of the fruit wholesale market in Weisenheim. "The conditions this summer were challenging due to the long dry and hot period. But the excellent qualities show, that our fruit producers have done a very good job once again."

Around 30 hectares have been planted in the climatically favored region of southern Rhineland-Palatinate in the recent years. Over the next few years, the trees will bring growing yields so consumers can look forward to an increasing supply of locally grown JAZZ™ apples. The new German origin is easily recognisable due to a corresponding remark on the packaging.

Since its launch in 2003, the JAZZ™ variety has been well-established and popular with consumers as a premium apple from the southern hemisphere, France and Italy.

The JAZZ™ apple brand has been part of the BayWa Group since its significant investment in T&G Global, New Zealand's market leader in the distribution and export of fresh fruit, in 2012.

T&G owns and manages the global growing and trademark rights for JAZZ™ which was naturally bred through the fusion of a Royal Gala and a Braeburn apple creating a premium apple known globally for its always refreshing flavour. To ensure demand matches supply, the cultivation of JAZZ™ takes place around the world including Germany.
