In previous years, from October through to the end of November was the peak time for bananas and the market in the past has been unable to cope with the glut and the prices tended to fall and sales were also affected. This year's situation is different. In middle and late October, looking at the national banana producing areas, Guangdong bananas season has basically ended, Yunnan, Laos and Myanmar bananas are not yet on the market in large volumes, Hainan bananas are still in the seedling stage, so only Guangxi bananas are standing out.
In the past, Guangxi's bananas, which were listed in October-November, accounted for more than 50% of the total area. The daily shipments were between 30,000 and 30,000 tons. In a short period of time, bananas were listed in large quantities, often with a shortage of workers, shortages of transportation vehicles and low prices. This year, it is very different. According to incomplete statistics, in October this year, the area of bananas in the Guangxi-producing areas was no more than 300,000 mu, only about one-third of the same period last year.
And from the end of October to mid-November, a window period is expected. The high quality goods from the base have become the indicator of the national banana price, and the price has naturally risen. It is expected to increase from 4-5 yuan /kg in mid-September to 5-6 yuan / kg at the end of October.
It is reported that the weather in Guangxi is stable this year, and the harvest season was not affected by high temperatures. The proportion of "fat bananas" is very small. It is also known that the Wuming production area was affected by frost. This year, the yield of bananas is generally low. In the past it was 60 jin/plant, this year only 40 jin/plant, and the yield per mu was reduced by about one kilogram. The reduction of planting areas, low quality and low yield is an important reason for the high price of bananas in Guangxi.
