Emma®, the premium clementine cultivated in the Sibari plain, will soon be available to consumers. It's tasty and refreshing, seedless, perfectly ripe and sweet and easy to peel.
It was developed by Gruppo Mazzoni. It's Fresh Produce section started growing and distributing peaches and nectarines in 2001. With emma®, it strengthens its relationship with the Sibari plain with the aim of supplying a top-of-the-range product with superior organoleptic qualities.
Emma®: naming, harvesting times and methods
"Emma" plays on it's similarity to "clementine" and makes reference to the femininity of the product.
It's harvested between mid-October and late February. As for the 2018-2019 campaign, Cico-Mazzoni sales manager Sergio Trevisan explains that "we're expecting to commercialize around 10,000 tons of early, medium and late varieties. Emma® is sold in 1.5 kg punnets easy to transport with a recognisable logo: an orange segment that recalls the brightness of the sun and the freshness of the fruit."
A special product requiring special care
Emma® grows in the Sibari plain, an ideal location thanks to is special microclimate characterized by great temperature differences between night and day and many sunny days.
Harvesting is staggered so as to always guarantee the perfect degree of ripeness and sweetness level. Afterwards, fruits are placed in a storage unit and reach stores shortly after.

The project to create emma® is part of the Cico-Mazzoni industrial strategy. "Our objective is to pursue projects that let us invest in various production areas. We select the species, identify the most suitable areas and establish partnerships with expert producers," explains Matteo Mazzoni.
