Lower Austria: potato, carrot and onion market in KW42

Potatoes: price increase expected
Stable conditions are currently shaping the Austrian table potato market. The harvest has been brought in and the deliveries to the dealers have already dropped significantly. Disproportionately high losses due to wire-worm infestation are unfortunately still happening. On the demand side, there are hardly any changes compared to previous weeks. Domestic sales are very regular and demand is served constantly. Exports are easily met as well. Producer prices are stable at last week's levels.

Given the manageable yield, the sortings and the good international price levels, corresponding price increases in the next few weeks are expected. In Lower Austria, the price of medium goods was 18, - to 20, - € / 100 kg and for sizes between 15, - and 18, - € / 100 kg. For wire worm-free, small packable premium goods with the AMA quality label, prices of up to 24, - € / 100 kg can be achieved. Prices in Upper Austria continue to be up to 22, - € / 100 kg.

Higher prices for exported onions
The Austrian onion market is quite well-balanced. A sufficient supply sees a satisfactory demand. Above all, exports are going well. Domestic sales are at normal seasonal levels. While there is still little movement in domestic prices, some price increases can be realized within the exports. By and large, however, the producer prices remain the same as last week. For onions, cleaned and sorted in the box, the prices are usually between 28, - and 32, - € / 100 kg depending on quality and size.

No change in the carrot market
At the NÖ carrot market everything is running smoothly. Harvesting is slow, as the unusually high temperatures are not conducive to storage. The available supply remains manageable and domestic sales are at the usual seasonal levels. Price-wise, there is no change compared to previous weeks.
