Asparagus: from Veneto to Australia

The vice-president of the Consorzio Carlo Benozzi, who was at the stand at the International Asparagus Days, stated, “There is not a very high quantity, but we are extremely satisfied that we shipped Badoere’s IGP asparagus".

Benozzi claimed, “We sell asparagus especially in Northern Italy. In general, the white asparagus is not very well known. Wholesale markets are very important, but during the last campaign, we also sold increasing quantities to GDO. For some time, we exported our product to Australia, where Italian importers demanded that”.

It is not easy to ship a delicate product like the asparagus to Australia. However, the final result has been satisfying. Considering the logistic difficulties, this is more something to proud of than an actual market outlet.

At the Op Veneto stand, in addition to the Asparagus Consortium of Badoere, there is the white asparagus from Bassano. The president Paolo Brotto said that “our product is not produced in large quantities, but we have a base of producers that provide us with an extremely high quality”.

The two entrepreneurs concluded, “We are here at the asparagus fair to get in touch with technical innovations and to meet potential customers”.
