Obeikan MDF takes its tenth anniversary celebrations to Madrid

The packaging company’s participation in the Packnet session kicks off  the first day of the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair in Madrid
Valencia, 15 October 2018. The Spanish packaging firm that specialises in medium density fibreboard, Obeikan MDF, will be taking part on 23 October in the conference on ‘Innovative and sustainable packaging applied to new consumer trends in fruit and vegetables’.

The session, which features several leading names in the packaging sector, is being organized by the Spanish Packaging Technology Platform, Packnet, and takes place within the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair, Fruit Attraction. This leading horticultural event, like Obeikan MDF, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2018.

On the subject of ‘Sustainable packaging – a tool for success’, the managing director of Obeikan, Salvador Martínez, will be explaining the triple advantage for customers that comes from putting their faith in the packaging recommended by the Valencian firm.

This packaging offers greater resistance during long-distance transport, it is a sustainable alternative made from recycled material, as well as being recyclable, and provides a powerful marketing tool both for producers – to showcase their brand – and retailers – when positioning the product on shelves.

These ten years in the fruit and vegetable packaging sector – which the firm identified as being of great interest thanks to its stability – have more than lived up to its accurate initial commitment.

Establishing itself in a country with a very large export component,
launching on the market with a material that is easy to recycle, and investing in laser technology, a technique that at that time was a pioneer for organic material, have been the key factors that have positioned the firm as a top quality partner and the ideal choice for exportable premium products. “We decided to make a point of  targeting the premium segment, specializing in high quality produce for export, and wood is perceived as an artisan, high quality packaging material,” notes Salvador Martínez.

At present, the United Kingdom and Germany are the two leading markets, accounting for 50% of the packaging company’s turnover. Other countries, such as Switzerland and the Scandinavian nations, are also among their loyal clients as their residents are strongly committed to, and demand, sustainability, while other markets such as Canada and the USA are recent adherents to this trend. The growing demand for sustainable packaging in international markets promises a very positive future for Obeikan MDF.

This forecast points towards stable growth with the introduction of new markets in the near future, and is driving the company to continue working on new manufacturing technologies and finishes.Having always liaised closely with its clients, Obeikan intends to take advantage of its presence at Fruit Attraction to celebrate this special tenth anniversary with them. “We want to thank all our clients for having been with us along the way, and provide  them with personalized information and guidance on the innovations we are already implementing that will be available to them in the very near future,” said Martínez.
